Animethon is a Japanese Animation (“anime”) themed festival held annually in the city of Edmonton, Alberta. We have expanded our focus beyond screening anime and now also include voice actor guests from North America, musical acts from North America and Japan, improvisation groups, as well as various related activities such as gaming, costume contests, and more. Animethon, as of 2004, is operated by the Alberta Society for Asian Popular Arts (ASAPA).

Tsukino Con is an independent annual convention organized by fans to promote Anime, Manga and other forms of Japanese Pop culture through an annual convention. Toronto Furnal Equinox is an annual furry convention held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is Canada’s largest furry event with an attendance of over 450 people in 2011.Their mission is to bring together fans of the furry genre together in a laid-back, casual environment to exchange artwork and crafts, share ideas, participate in entertainment, and meet the fantastic creators and fans that contribute to the furry community. Victoria Steam Expo – Steampunk is the collision of history, technology, imagination, and attitude. Nineteenth-century sensibilities with impossible Jules-Verne-inspired technology. Teak-panelled computers, corsets and jetpacks, top hats and rayguns. This expo will host an art-happening of steampunk art, tech, fashion, music, architecture, and story. Location: The Empress Hotel.

Toronto Comics Arts Festival is a week-long celebration of comics and graphic novels and their creators, which culminates in a two-day exhibition and vendor fair featuring hundreds of comics creators from around the world. Calgary’s Otafest is an annual conference for anime enthusiasts. Fans can show off the costumes they have made, the music videos they have created, and the art they have painted and drawn. Otafest is a forum for discussion and education. We host educational panels introducing others to the basics of the Japanese language, and tips on how to use computer programs to enhance music videos and CG art. The convention will take place at the University of Calgary.

Harbour Con-Fusion Inc is in its second year and is a non-profit organization from Saint John, NB that fuses passions of charitable works with geeky genres. It is a fusion of many elements into one great convention: horror, steampunk, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and everything else you can think of! Proceeds from tickets are donated to local charities.
